Welcome to the DLS area...

Established in 1979, DLS has become the hidden jewel of European car audio in this country. Now with a brand new distributor, AXIS, we look forward to a re launch in the UK and a return to the upper echelons of the Car Hi-fi scene for this once dominant brand.

With a portfolio containing products for home and car and a development facility in Sweden, DLS has always tried to represent High-quality no compromise ideals without a market restrictive price tag. The history and heritage of Scandinavia for music and sound goes back a long way. It is no fluke that Sweden has seen massive success from home grown superstars ABBA or that some Swedish music producers and their studios are amongst the most highly sort across many musical genres, in the world. The Swedes have ears they also have taste and pursue the arts with unrestrained vigour.

DLS Ranges

With almost 30 years development under its belt, it is no wonder that the product portfolio is so rich. However, by focussing on three levels of performance, DLS is able to keep the range as navigable as possible having three ranges of amplifier for instance called; Performance, Reference and Ultimate. Speaker system ranges are graded in the same way but because DLS actively encourages customers and system builders to mix and match components to suit specific taste and applications, all the individual components can be purchased separately.

DLS enjoys working with new unique materials and at design stage no idea is rejected without being properly investigated. This promiscuous approach means that many elements of DLS product are unique. Nobelium is an artificial radioactive element (atomic number 102) discovered at the Nobel Institute of Physics in 1957 although this is often disputed, as other laboratories struggled to reproduce it from the process described by them. In this case, it gives its name to a range of “Ultimate” 2 and 3-way speaker systems featuring aluminium cones and silk dome tweeters. Iridium is another element (atomic number 77) but this time discovered by Smithson Tennant in London 1803 and gives its name to “Ultimate” systems featuring non-pressed paper coned systems, highly favoured in high-end domestic circles. Each range has inherently different sound characteristics and both are a valid basis for a top-end system.
